In this article, you'll learn how to connect your Wix website to a helloly domain. Below are instructions for customers without web hosting (domain only). Further down, you'll find instructions for customers with web hosting or mail-only packages.

Domain without Web Hosting

Important note

To connect your domain from helloly to your Wix website, Wix offers two options:
Pointing (Forwarding) or Change Nameserver. We only recommend Pointing (Forwarding)!

Why Pointing (Forwarding)?

• If you use email with your helloly hosting package, the MX/SPF records will no longer need to be converted during Pointing (Forwarding) and your DKIM record will still be in the DNS. Emails with a valid DKIM signature are rated positively, especially by large mail portals such as Gmail, which improves the reputation of your emails.
• For all domain-relevant topics, helloly's Austrian support is only available for Pointing (Forwarding)
• As a domain-only customer, you can only upgrade to an e-mail-only package with Pointing (Forwarding) - and that for a reasonable € 1.50 per month
• As a domain-only customer, you can only upgrade to a hosting package with Pointing (Forwarding)

Domain only: How to connect your helloly domain with your Wix website

If you have a domain only package with helloly, you can connect your Wix website in this way:

• Go to your Wix website, select Settings and then Domains
  
  
  
  
• Enter your domain and click on Let's go
  
  
  
  
• Now click on the link Yes, I own this domain
  
  
  
• A message will appear informing you that the domain connection may take up to 48 hours. Confirm this message by clicking on Start
  
  
  
  
• In the next step, please click on Pointing (Forwarding)
  
  
  
  
• Confirm the connection via pointing (forwarding) by clicking on Go to Pointing
  
  
  
  
• Now open the helloly client area at my.helloly.com in a new tab or browser window
• Now select Domains and then My Domains in the left-hand navigation bar
  
  
  
  
• Now click on the Tool icon for the desired domain and select Manage domain
  
  
  
  
  
• Now select DNS Management in the right-hand navigation menu
  
  
  
  
• Now switch back to the Wix tab or the Wix window and click on I have logged in
  
  
  
  
• Click on I have found my domain settings
  
  
  
  
• Click on I have found the entries
  
  
  
  
• You will now be shown the values that you need to enter in the DNS administration.
  
  
  
  
• Switch back to the helloly tab or the helloly browser window
• Change the entries according to the Wix instructions:
  
  
  
  
  • enter the corresponding Value for Address in the Hostname @ field
  • change the record type for the hostname www to CNAME
  • enter the value pointing.wixdns.net. for Address in the host name www. Attention: The dot at the end of the domain is unusual but important, otherwise the forwarding will not work.
• Confirm with Save Changes
• Switch back to the Wix tab or the Wix window and click on I have updated my entries
• Congratulations - you have successfully connected your helloly domain to your Wix website!
  Note: In 48 hours at the latest, your website will now be accessible under your helloly domain.
  
  
  
  

Domain mit Webhosting / Mail-only

Important note

• In the next step, please click on Pointing (Forwarding)
  
  
  
  
• Confirm the connection via Pointing (Forwarding) by clicking on Go to Pointing
  
  
  
  
• Access the helloly client area via my.helloly.com in a new tab or browser window
• Select the desired package in the Dashboard area under Your Active Products/Services and click Log in to cPanel
  
  
  
  
• Now open the Zone Editor in the cPanel under Domains
  
  
  
  
• Now switch back to the Wix tab or the Wix window and click on I have logged in
  
  
  
  
• Click on I have found my domain settings
  
  
  
  
• Click on I have found the entries
  
  
  
  
• The values that you need to enter in the zone editor are now displayed.
  
  
  
  
• Switch back to the helloly tab
• In the zone editor, click Manage next to the desired domain
  
  
  
  
• The first entry in the list is of Type A and has the name yourdomain.tld. - click on Edit for this record, paste the previously copied content into the Record field and click on Save Record
  
  
  
  
• Now search for the line of type CNAME with the name www.ihredomain.tld. - Click on Edit for this record, insert pointing.wixdns.net in the Record field and click on Save Entry
  
  
  
  
• Switch back to the Wix tab or the Wix window and click on I have updated my entries
• Congratulations - you have successfully connected your helloly domain to your Wix website! Note: In 48 hours at the latest, your website will now be accessible under your helloly domain.

Do you already know the helloly Website Builder? This is included in every Hosting Package. If you want to switch from Wix back to helloly, proceed as follows:

• Access the helloly client area via my.helloly.com
• Select the desired package in the Dashboard area under Your Active Products/Services and click Log in to cPanel
  
  
  
  
• Now open the Zone Editor in the cPanel under Domains
  
  
  
  
• Now click on Manage for the desired domain in the Zone Editor
  
  
  
  
• Now click on Actions and select Reset DNS Zone
  
  
  
  

• A warning now appears: “If you reset your zone file, all changes you have made to your zone data records will be deleted. The system will attempt to retain the TXT entries. However, we recommend that you make a note of all the entries you wish to save. Do you really want to delete all entries and reset to the default?”

  If you have made any other changes apart from the changes for Wix, make a note of them before you click Next.

• You have now successfully reset your settings and can host your website via helloly again or use the website builder.
