To understand why sometimes the text style does not change, we must first look at the different style sheets. There are three types of style sheets for text elements:
- Block styles:
- Normal, Page Title, Sub Title, Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3
- Block styles are always applied to the entire paragraph. This means that you do not have to select a section of text to format the entire paragraph. The paragraph in which the mouse cursor is located is formatted.
- Inline styles:
- Highlight, Special
- The two inline styles Highlight and Special are only applied to currently highlighted text. If you have formatted a word as Highlight or Special and then change the block style of the paragraph to e.g. Heading 1, the words formatted as Highlight or Special keep their style, every other word of the paragraph will be formatted as Heading 1
- List styles
- List 1, List 2, List 3
- The three style sheets List 1, List 2 and List 3 can only be applied to Numbered list or list can be applied
